Awarded the Best Foreign Language film of 1987 by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Stephane Audran is Babette, an exiled French cook-housekeeper for a pair of devoutly religious, elderly Danish sisters. When she wins a lottery she asks to prepare a Gaillic feast for the women and their friends to show her appreciation. Based on the short story by Karen Blixen (aka Isak Dinesen). A fine film about fine dining.
