A brutal safari adventure directed by and starring Cornel Wilde ('The Greatest Show on Earth'). Filmed on location in South Africa and set in the early nineteenth century, the story involves an ivory-hunting safari led by Wilde that gets attacked and tortured by an angry tribe. The safari leader is spared, but not for long. Stripped and released into the jungle, the tribesmen hunt him down like, well, naked prey. A score of throbbing tribal drums helps build tension in this savage picture about man's return to beast. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Screenplay. Based on a true story about a trapper named John Colter who was hunted for sport by Native Americans in Wyoming.
