The Purple Rose of Cairo

Mia Farrow stars as a waifish Depression-era waitress who is swept off her feet by Jeff Daniels, the star of her favorite movie. The catch, of course, is that he literally walks off the movie screen to get to her! 'I'm in love with a wonderful man - he's fictional, but you can't have everything'. Woody Allen at his best, combining tenderly poignant moments with subtle touches of humour as he plays fiction against reality to create superb entertainment.
