When convicted killers Bowie (Keith Carradine), Chicamaw (John Schuck) and T-Dub (Bert Remsen) escape from prison, they return to the only thing they know, bank robbery, embarking on a crime spree across 1930s rural Mississippi. Along the way, Bowie begins a touching romance with Keechie (Shelley Duvall), a local farm girl who longs for him to abandon his life of crime. With the police and the press hot on their trail and closing in, however, it becomes clear that there is little hope of breaking the cycle of larceny and violence...
