They Live By Night / Side Street

This double feature includes Nicholas Ray's lyrical story of romantic fatalism, 'They Live by Night' (1948), about a young outlaw couple on the run forced to take part in additional crimes with two ruthless convicts. With Farley Granger, Cathy O'Donnell and Howard da Silva. Next up, Anthony Mann's dark and unrelenting drama 'Side Street' (1950), in which Farley Granger's minor theft spirals out of control and eventually drags him and his pregnant wife (Cathy O'Donnell) through the sinister underworld of New York City. A lyrical story, this is not.
