The Belly of an Architect

Stourley Kracklite (Brian Dennehy), a distinguished American architect, is invited to Rome with his young attractive wife Louisa (Chloe Webb) to set up an exhibition of architecture. As Kracklite becomes increasingly obsessed with his work and failing health, Louisa turns to the handsome young Italian architect, Caspasian Speckler (Lambert Wilson) for amusement and affection. Set against the unchanging face of Rome, the film chronicles the course of Kracklite's nine months in the city as he comes to terms with the collapse of his marriage, his frustrated professional ambitions and his own mortality.
