The Car Man

Award winning director and choreographer Mathew Bourne uses the stirring and passionate music of Bizet's Carmen as the basis for a completely new and original tale. Classical ballet, jazz, modern and even flamenco influences are combined in a unique style of choreography creating a very exciting, contemporary feel. The dreams and passions of a small community are shattered by the arrival of a handsome stranger. Fuelled by heat and desire the inhabitants are drawn into a spiral of greed, opportunism, sex and murder. In the dust and and decay of a small mid-western town, a heady mix of lust, betrayal and revenge unfolds as the characters in Bourne's drama struggle with their own guilt and treachery, and the tragic consequences that follow.
