A Tale of Two Cities

Charles Dickens' classic tale of honour and sacrifice involving the cruel Marquis St Evremonde, his nephew Charles Darnay, who gives up his inheritance to protest the inhumanity of his family, and Sydney Carton, the dissolute English lawyer who gives up his life to save his friend. It also involves the beautiful Lucie, for whose love both Charles and Sydney would gladly lay down their lives, and her father, Dr Manette. Here too is the fanatical Madame Defarge, whose fervour fuelled the flashing blade of the guillotine. This beautifully staged production captures all the drama and emotion of some of the most blood-stained pages in history. Starring Chris Sarandon, Peter Cushing, Nigel Hawthorne, Barry Morse, Billie Whitelaw, Alice Krige.
