Butterflies: Series 1
Ria Parkinson (Wendy Craig) has been happily married for years. Her husband Ben (Geoffrey Palmer) is a dull but successful dentist whose hobby is collecting butterflies, and they live with their two teenage sons in a comfortable suburban home. Though Ria has never wanted more out of life, recently she has begun to think that life might be passing her by. Then one day she meets a handsome and wealthy businessman, Leonard - while not exactly a knight in shining armour, Ria still daydreams of being swept off her feet by him. They meet in secret - and it's just the excitement she's been looking for! Despite the fact that their relationship is purely platonic, Ria feels pamgs of gulit. the bittersweet comedy about lost opportunites and the sudden realisation that time is running out is still fresh and relevant today as it explores the frustration of modern day relationships.
