The Mark of Cain

Alix Lambert's ground-breaking documentary overtly examines the dying art of Russian prison tattooing, while at the same time, more covertly, showing a candid and harrowing portrait of conditions in a typical Russian prison. Through intimate interviews, the prison world reveals itself to be a complex microcosm of the outside world - a society still coming to grips with a new socio-political paradigm.
