The Great Water

A prominent Macedonian politician suffers a heart attack and drifting between life and death, his mind wanders to childhood. In a camp for children whose parents didn't embrace Stalin's post-war Russia, young Lem struggles with the harsh treatment, until one day, a new boy, Isak, arrives. Writer/director Trajkov cast an actress as Isak after auditions to find a young man failed. Based on Zhivko Chingo's novel this is a well-crafted, rare glimpse of history from an eastern perspective.
