An Autumn Afternoon

One of the world's most celebrated filmmakers, Yasujiro Ozu, observes the tangled relationships of Japanese families with an amazing blend of intimacy and discretion in this, his last film. Set in post-war Japan this is a rare colour outing for the director who follows aging patriarch Chishu Ryu as he learns how to deal with his three very different children. Touching, funny and a fitting and beautiful swansong for a true master of the craft.
