Daniel Deronda

George Eliot's last and most underrated novel has been wittily adapted to the small screen by the BBC. Daniel Deronda (Hugh Dancy), though intelligent and noble is the illegitimate son of an aristocrat; Gwendolen (Romola Garai) is a vivacious but hard up gambler. When she and Daniel meet over the roulette table, sparks begin to fly, but she needs money more than passion. A marvellously elegant production with a winning cast.
