Hustle and Flow

Djay (Terrence Howard) is a low-level pimp and drug dealer scratching a living in the Memphis ghettoes. As he approaches the age where his father unexpectedly died, he longs for change and picks up a cheap keyboard with an eye to setting some of his stories to beats. Taking home the audience award at Sundance 2005 this is a cinematic adrenalin rush in the vein of '8 Mile' with heartfelt performances from all including rapper Ludacris as Skinny Black, a local boy-turned-national success.
