Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire
Set in Harlem in 1987, this acclaimed drama chronicles the difficult life of Precious (Gabourey Sidibe) - an obese, abused, and illiterate 16-year-old who is pregnant with her second child from her rapist father. While dealing with her cruel mother and incestuous dad, she daydreams of stardom in order to cope and is given a glimmer of hope about her uncertain future from a teacher at her alternative high school. With Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz and Best Supporting Actress Oscar-winner Mo'Nique. Lee Daniels directed, Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry produced and Geoffrey Fletcher adapted the novel 'Push' by Sapphire.
