Clean

Faded rock star Lee Hauser (played by James Johnston from Nick Cave's Bad Seeds) lives with his wife, former TV host Emily (Maggie Cheung) in a small Canadian town. Both have been battling long-term drug addictions and when Lee dies of an overdose, Emily gets six years in prison for possession of heroin. Meanwhile her son is living with his paternal grandparents (Nick Nolte and Martha Henry), and Emily promises to get clean before taking him back. After her release she moves to Paris, staying with an old friend (Beatrice Dalle) and working as a waitress, but giving up her old lifestyle will be the greatest battle of her life. Maggie Cheung turns in a powerhouse performance in this heart-wrenching drama that spans three countries.
