Francis of Assisi

Michael Curtiz brings the life of St Francis to the screen in this colourful religious epic. Dolores Hart co-stars as the noblewoman who forsakes her life of luxury to become a nun, and in a strange parallel, Hart decided to abandon Hollywood and became a nun herself just two years later. Straying from the historical facts here and there, this is none-the-less an engaging and sympathetic bio-pic.
