Running Scared
Paul Walker is low-level mobster Joey Gazelle, assigned to get rid of a gun used to kill a corrupt cop. When his neighbour's kid steals it to shoot his abusive father things go awry, but the father's connections to the Russian mob make it even worse, not to mention bent cop Chazz Palminteri, and his own not-too-happy bosses are also on Joey's tail. This frenetic actioner is an homage to the no-holds-barred gangster flicks of the '70s; stylish set design, great cast, this sordid, and even shocking, thrill ride never lets up. Don't be put off by the rubbish title, and stick around for Gary Hebert's animated end credits.
