When the Mountains Tremble

Shot at the height of a largely unreported war between a heavily armed Guatamalan Military and a virtually defenceless Mayan population, this powerful and skillful documentary is anchored by the first-hand accounts of Rigoberta Menchu, a woman whose humanitarian efforts were rewarded by a Nobel Peace Prize in 1992. Throughout the imminent chaos and danger, Menchu provides courage and optimism as death squads murder without conscience.
