The Take

This award-winning documentary from producers Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis tracks the spectacular economic collapse that took place in Argentina following Menem's policy of privitisation and the subsequent crippling IMF loans. Amongst mass unemployment and closing factories, 30 unemployed machinists walked into their abandoned Buenos Aires auto plant, rolled out their sleeping mats and refused to leave. Forming a hub for both sides of the globalisation debate, this simple act precipitated a stand-off of global poroportions.
