East Is East

Funny, poignant and sometimes downbeat film stars Om Puri as a Pakistani immigrant who runs a fish and chip shop in 1970s Manchester, with his British wife and seven children. With much opposition, Puri tries to infuse his children with values from his homeland. When two of his sons reject their arranged marriages to Pakistani women, the conflict threatens to tear the family apart. Linda Basset also stars.
