The Hawk is Dying

Paul Giamatti plays the emotionally stunted George Gattling, a man who feels out of place in the world. Living with his sister and her autistic son, George has an on-again off-again relationship with a young stoner (Michelle Williams) and an abiding interest in birds of prey which he attempts to catch and train, if unsuccessfully. When tragedy strikes, George has no emotional outlet but his birds and his interest becomes obsession as he pours all his energy into training a red-tailed hawk. Another great performance from Giamatti, in this contemplative drama based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Harry Crews.
