Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

A cleverly black lampoon on the slasher genre, with several documentary students convincing wannabe serial killer, Leslie Vernon, to let them follow him on his very first murderous rampage, a la 'Man Bites Dog'. A deliciously gory deconstruction of the cliches so familiar to fans of the genre, set in a world where Jason Voorhees and Mike Myers actaully exist - pioneers of the 'industry'. Robert Englund enjoys himself playing Vernon's doctor, desperate to stop his former patient from fulfilling his dreams of infamy.
