Strumpet City

A panoramic saga of Dublin life during one of the city's most turbulent eras in the early 1900s, based on the novels of James Plunkett, which are in turn set around real events. This acclaimed and ambitious production from the Irish public broadcaster, RTE, traces the lives of various citizens from all walks of life, from the desperately poor, to the self-righteously wealthy, in the lead-up to the famous General Lockout and Strike of 1913, spearheaeded by Jim Larkin (played by Peter O'Toole).
