Sons and Lovers

Showered with praise on its release, this adaptation of DH Lawrence's famous novel is perhaps a little dated now. Censorship laws of the time prevetented it from being too faithful to the book; but it is still a beautifully photographed film, (winner of 1960's Oscar for Cinematography), and superbly acted by a stand-out cast headed by Dean Stockwell as the sensitive and brooding Paul Morel.
