Lt. James Dempsey, a Serpico-like Brooklyn cop is sent to Scotland Yard and partnered with the glamorous but tough Sgt. Harriet Makepeace. Dempsey finds British policing slow and infuriating and his new colleagues consider him a violent maverick, entirely too attached to his .357 Magnum. These two officers of the law formed one of the most engrossing love/hate relationships on TV in this classic, gritty cop drama.
