A Battle of Wits
Based on a popular 11-volume manga series entitled 'Bokko' and set during the Warring States Period in China in 370 B.C. when the country was split between seven states. Smaller and weaker states often fell prey to larger and stronger ones as their ambitious overlords strived endlessly for expansion. Andy Lau stars in this period epic as a mercenary strategist and pacifist trying to protect the small state of Liang from the cruel tyranny of the massive state of Zhao. Lavishly conceived and eschewing the superhero fantasy elements of many re-tellings of Asian history.
