Drunken Angel

Takashi Shimura plays an alcoholic doctor trying to bring about both spiritual and physical recovery of the human debris living in the yakuza-infested slums of post-war Tokyo. Toshiro Mifune is charismatic as a gangster diagnosed with tuberculosis in his first collaboration with Kurosawa who was also just beginning to make his name.
