Journey from the Fall

A poignant and realistic drama, set after the Americans left war-torn Saigon, depicting a side of the Vietnam War seldom seen - the affect on the Vietnamese who remained there. Deciding to stay and fight the Communists, Long urges his family to leave. They escape by boat to America, while he is imprisoned in a brutal 're-education' camp. As he suffers at the hands of his captors, his family in California are having their own struggles assimilating into a foreign culture. A powerful and beautifully realised portrayal of the refugee experience, made in the US largely by South Vietnamese immigrants.
