Rocky Balboa ( Blu-ray )
Much heralded as a return to form for both Sly Stallone and his eponymous character, this has everything the original had - an underdog facing the odds, illegible dialogue, slo-mo punches to the head, and an unrelentingly sentimental plot. And, of course, a cheesy score. Fans of the original film may be disheartened to see the toll taken on Sly's body after a lifetime of steroids and raw egg yolks, but this cetainly does recall the bare-knuckle optimism of the one that started them all. Paint-by-numbers, but with its nostalgic heart in the right place.
