The Man from Earth

One cold night, scientist John Oldman gathers his friends together and hits them with an astonishing piece of news: he is an immortal who has been living on Earth for 14,000 years, surviving millenia of evolution, since Cro-Magnon times. Is he telling the truth, is he lying, or is he merely deluded? The long-term pet project of 'Twilight Zone' and 'Star Trek' scribe Jerome Bixby, the script was only finalised on his deathbed in 1998. Thoughtful and thought-provoking, this philosophically-charged sci-fi eschews spaceships and special effects in favour of an intriguing premise, well-drawn characters and an intelligent script.
