We follow him as a gunman subtly identified with Moses, Buddha and Jesus Christ, through a desert scattered with biblical references in a highly ritualised search for fulfillment through feats of physical prowess. This very rare, lavish, surreal and violent western so blew Beatle John Lennon away he purchased the distribution rights and booked it for successful midnight engagements throughout America - becoming the "head" (a film that is confusing but mentally stimulating) event picture of the decade.
