The Counterfeiters

In pre-WWII Germany, Salomon Sorowitsch is a world-class counterfeiter, being also a Jew he is soon arrested and put in a concentration camp, but as the war machine begins to grind, his captors realise they can put his skills to work. This soul-shuddering drama is based on the memoir of Adolf Burger and is a riveting examination of how far we will compromise our moral code in order to survive. An astonishing performance from Karl Markovics in the lead; this took Best Foreign Film at the 2008 Oscars.
