Show of Hands

Melanie Lynskey came back to NZ to make this light-hearted romantic drama about a competition (famously held in Lower Hutt back in the '80s) where folks can win a Land Rover Discovery - all they have to do is be the last person still holding onto it. Solo mum Lynskey doesn't fancy her chances, until self-obsessed salesman Tom gets her goat and provides her with a bit of motivation. Directed by Anthony McCarten ('Via Satellite'), who adapted his own novel for the screenplay. Music by Don McGlashan.
