A Newsreel History of the Third Reich: European Domination 1940

This educational and thought provoking series comprises German newsreel recordings and includes unique footage plundered by Russian troops. Directed and orchestrated under the influence of Goebbels' Ministry of Propaganda, it is by no means an accurate historical depiction but a fascinating insight into how the period leading up to and including World War Two was portrayed to the German people. This episode covers early 1940 as Hitler's forces steamrollered Western Europe. It deals with the invasion and surrender of Holland, Belgium, Norway and Denmark; the Battle of Dunkirk and the subsequent British evacuation and the capitulation of France including the victory parades through Paris.
