The International
Clive Owen and Naomi Watts star in this topical, conspiracy-laden thriller, set in a post-globalisation economy as it teeters on the brink of a depression. Forget the Russians and North Koreans - the real bad guys are the faceless international banking cartels, crippling the population with overwhelming debt. Interpol agent Salinger (Owen), and New York Assistant D.A. Whitman (Watts) are consistently foiled in their attempts to uncover the evildoers at the top of the money tree, and soon find themselves operating outside the law. Well worth it to see a few high-flyers getting their comeuppance, and German director Tom Tykwer proves he's no slouch in the action department.
