Easy Virtue

An entertaining adaptation of Noel Coward's play, set in 1929 and starring Jessica Biel as the brash American divorcee who shocks the prim English family she's just married into. Kristin Scott Thomas is the formidable mummy who is utterly unimpressed by Larita's feisty glamour, but Larita can give as good as she gets. A pithy and sure-footed revamp (Hitchcock also directed a film version in 1928); Colin Firth co-stars as the bored father with a cutting wit.
