AKA 'New York Beat Movie'. This film was two decades in the making, only recently released for all to see 'New York...the way it was...when it was...'. Nineteen year-old Jean Michel Basquiat stars as the young artist trying to sell a painting in the art and music scene of 1981 Manhattan: a pre-Giuliani, pre-gentrification world of crazy people and crazy parties. An endless procession of the stars of that time and place appear including Deborah Harry, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, John Lurie, Tuxedomoon and Vincent Gallo.
