In 1964, Andy Warhol took up residence in an abandoned hat factory in Manhattan's East Side and turned it into a hotbed of music, art, filmmaking and counterculture that has never been forgotten. Such names as Edie Sedgwick, Billy Name, Lou Reed, Ultra Violet, Nico, and Paul Morrissey passed through the 'Silver Factory' where Warhol encouraged creativity and performance, giving scores of people their own 15 minutes of fame. This 3-part series covers the period 1963-1968 and is based on 50 hours of new original interviews, Warhol screen tests and films, and thousands of photos and rare film clips that chronicle factory life and Andy filming.
