20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

The great Disney version of Jules Verne's famous adventure/fantasy about a sailor (Kirk Douglas) and a scientist who get involved with Captain Nemo, (played by James Mason) and his fascinating futuristic submarine, the Nautilus. Richard Fleischer was surprised to be offered director duties as he was the son of Disney's major rival, Max Fleischer, but when asked, Disney said he knew Richard was Max's son, and simply thought him the best man for the job.
