Silent Wedding

Romania, 1953. Mara (Meda Andreea Victor) and Iancu (Alexandru Potocean) are about to get married. Everyone in their village is helping with the wedding preparations and the celebrations have already begun. While the party is in full swing in the garden, the mayor and the regimental commander of the army interrupt to announce the death of Stalin. One week of national mourning must take place, effective immediately. The wedding and the party are forbidden. In spite of this disruption, the couple and their guests come up with an ingenious but dangerous solution to continue their festivities. Drawing comparisons with the films of Emir Kusturica, this is both laugh-out loud funny and edgily dark. "A little charmer... see it soon or the loss is yours!" - Nick Paris, Otago Star.
