Charming French comedy, set in early '60s Paris, tracing the effects of an unusual friendship that develops between a stodgy Parisian stockbroker and his Spanish maid. Jean-Louis Joubert (Fabrice Luchini) is so rich he owns the block of flats in which he lives. His wife, Suzanne (Sandrine Kiberlain), is only too aware of their wealth and status and is snobbish in the extreme. The couple hire a young Spanish waitress, Maria (Natalia Verbeke), to take care of chores for them. Though Suzanne believes that Maria is beneath them and treats her like a servant, Jean-Louis is prepared to engage with Maria's human side and their burgeoning relationship exerts a powerful effect on him...
