The Past

Following a four-year separation, Ahmad (Ali Mosaffa) returns to Paris from Tehran in order to finalise a divorce from his estranged French wife, Marie (Bérénice Bejo). During his stay, Ahmad discovers tensions in Marie's relationship with her daughter, but his attempt to build bridges between them creates conflict with her new partner, Samir (Tahar Rahim), and soon unveils a secret from the past. Directed by Academy Award winner Asghar Farhadi ("A Separation") and featuring an unforgettable central performance by Bejo ("The Artist") that earned her the Best Actress award at Cannes 2013, "The Past" is an engrossing, tight-knit family drama as gripping as any thriller.
