Will McAvoy, news anchor for Atlantic Cable News flagship show News Night, had made himself a fan favourite, largely by avoiding any kind of opinion on anything, trading in his personal convictions in favour of ratings. That was until a mini-meltdown at a College Q&A went viral and prompted his ratings to tank and the majority of his staff to find pastures new. Now, Wills boss, old-school newsman Charlie Skinner, has re-partnered Will with his former executive producer, and former girlfriend, McKenzie McHale in the hope that she will not only help him rediscover his audience, but also his integrity and his passion. In Season 2, its a year later and in the days leading up to Election Night 2012, the News Night team is facing a law suit in the aftermath of a news report about a suspicious US drone strike that turned out to be falsified. Meanwhile in an attempt to get away from the Maggie situation, Jim volunteers for life on the road covering the Presidential campaigns and Maggies first field assignment ends in tragedy.
