A Birder's Guide to Everything

David (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is a gawky young man still grieving the loss of his mother, even as his father prepares to take a new wife. David and his friends keep his moms memory alive through their passionate interest in birding, and when an expert (Ben Kingsley) concedes that David may have captured a species of duck beieved to be extinct on camera, the group sets out for Connecticut with Ellen (Katie Chang), a fetching photography lover from school, in tow. Thus, the stage is set for a life changing excursion ala Stand By Me.
