The Films of Kenneth Anger: Volume 1
A pioneer of the American undeground film movement, Anger's films were largely rejected in his home country, finding more of a following across the Atlantic. Five of his short films are collected here: 'Fireworks' (1947) - A dissatisfied dreamer awakes and goes out in the night seeking a light; 'Puce Moment' (1949) - A lavishly coloured evocation of the Hollywood now gone; 'Rabbit's Moon' (1950) - A fable of the unattainable combining elements of Commedia dell'Arte with Japanese myth; 'Eaux d'Artifice' (1953) - A consumed figure moves through Tivoli gardens; and 'The Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome' (1954) - A convocation of magicians assume the identity of gods and goddesses in a Dionysian revel - one of the key works in American experimental cinema.
