Ladybird Ladybird

A forceful and uncompromising film about a small time singer who finds her tough, mostly uneventful life ripped apart by tragedy. A fire destroys her home and severely hurts one of her children. This incident and a series of problems lead her to lose her children as an unfit mother. Ken Loach's riveting drama is a powerful look at the machinery of the welfare state.
