Mystery Train

Jarmusch continues to explore the theme of strangers in even stranger lands. This time he uses Memphis, Tennessee, as the backdrop for three interwoven stories which collide in a rundown hotel in the sleazy part of town. The episodes follow a young and very hip Japanese couple who have come to pray at the temple of rock 'n' roll; three Memphis low-lifes on a drunken, brawling night of debauchery; and a young Italian woman, stranded by the death of her husband and waiting to accompany his coffin back to Italy. Jarmusch delights in the odd-ball quirkiness of his characters.
