A follow up to Alan Clarke's "Scum", an indictment of Britain's juvenile justice system, "Scrubbers" graphically depicts life behind bars in a woman's detention centre. Directed by Swedish actress Mai Zetterling, whose films often deal with the position of women in modern society and are noted for their dramatic sense and fluid visual style. Produced by George Harrison's Handmade Films.
