Splendour in the Grass

Warren Beatty (in his film debut) and Natalie Wood portray young lovers in the 1920s Midwest, whose inner struggles to retain a pure and virtuous love for one another lead them only to destructive ends. Written for the screen by William Inge (who can be seen as the town minister), the popular drama co-stars Pat Hingle.
